Sacramento Kings Players, History:

Sacramento is the capital city of California, but most people think about San Francisco and Los Angeles when it comes to professional sports in California (or the west coast for that matter). The Sacramento Kings have been in the NBA since 1949 and won their only NBA Championship in 1950-51 (they are still trying to get back to the NBA Finals as we write this). The Kings (also known as the Royals in 1960) drafted Oscar Roberston who played sensational in his rookie year and almost averaged a triple double. "The Big O" would win The Rookie of The Year and would help Sacramento return to the playoffs in 1962. The 1960's were an up and down time for Sacramento as Jerry Lucas and Robertson led their team to a few respectable seasons during that time. The Kings would end the 60's on a positive note as they finished the year with 41 wins and 41 losses. A great website for Kings history is the official NBA site which you can find at nba.com/kings. Bob Cousy became the head coach in 1969, and as fate would have it that was also the last year Oscar Robertson would play for the Kings (Royals) as he was then traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. Robertson has undoubtedly gone down as one of the 50 best players ever in the NBA (a big honor in basketball). The 1970's were not a very good decade for the Kings, although one bright spot was the emergence of Tiny Archibald (who led the NBA in scoring and assists in 1972 - the 1st time in NBA history that has been done). The Kings had become a one man team and ultimately Bob Cousy was forced to step down from his coaching position, 2 years later in 1974 the Kings would return to the playoffs for the 1st time in 8 years. Sacramento had some great players in the 1980's like Joe Kliene, Danny Ainge, Ricky Berry, Wayman Tisdale, and managed to sell out a lot of home games at ARCO Arena. Sacramento was not able to do much in the late 80's with their roster full of talent (and good coaching), but in 1989 they would draft Pervis Ellison and everybody in Sacramento hoped he would be their savior. 1992 saw Mitch Richmond and Spud Webb join Sacramento as they tried to rebuild a team that was struggling at best. The Kings also had players like Walt Williams and Lionel Simmons in their starting 5, but managed to only win 25 games during another disappointing season. The late 90's saw Vlade Divac, Jason Williams, and Chris Webber in the line up for Sacramento as they built a good team. In 2000 the Kings won 55 games and made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs where they lost to the Lakers (with Shaq and Kobe leading the way). Sacramento has had some good teams since the 2000 season, but they just never had that extra push to reach the NBA Finals again - maybe this year will be different. This season watch out for players like Mike Bibby and Kevin Martin to help the Kings get back to their winning ways and reach the playoffs in April.

Sacramento Kings Cheerleaders, Pictures:

If you want to find general news and pictures of the Sacramento Kings Dancers then be sure to check out nba.com/kings/dance/Sacramento_Kings_Dancers.html. The official website for the cheerleaders offers wallpapers, photos, and even a short history of the dance squad and the activities they take part in from charities to autograph signings. The NBA has become a big business and it doesn't hurt to have beautiful women on the sidelines cheering at every home game. This year there are 15 amazing women who made the squad, a few of the popular girls are Heidi, Becca, and Nicole. If you are a huge fan of the Kings and their cheerleaders you can request for the dancers to make a special appearance at something like a birthday party or Holiday event (just be prepared to pay some big $$). Check out their website above for details.

Where can I buy Sacramento Kings Tickets, Jerseys, Schedule, and Logo?:

Are you trying to find Sacramento Kings merchandise or a Mike Bibby jersey to buy? If so, check out ebay.com where you can bid on every item ever made with the Kings logo on it. You can find jerseys, shoes, hats, t shirts, pants, even calendars and trading cards are for sale on ebay. Just remember that ebay is an auction website and some items can get very expensive if many customers are bidding on the product you want. Many Kings fans are buying the Mike Bibby jersey which sells for about $75 online, if you find a special or search around you might pick one up for about $50. Another popular item we found was the Kings hats which you can buy for between $15-$40. This year Sacramento has a good team and seem to be playing well at home, so if you want to buy tickets to a Kings home game be prepared to spend a little money. If you are on a budget you can sit in the cheap (upper level) seats for $10 a ticket and have an affordable night. On the other hand if you are a huge Kings fan and love basketball you might consider buying lower level seats which cost between $90 - $165 per ticket. There are many websites online that sell sporting event tickets, but we found ticketmaster.com to be the best site to buy from on the web. For a complete schedule of Kings games and events at ARCO Arena check out nba.com/kings/schedule/index.html.

Sacramento Kings Fansites:

Today the Kings have fans from all over America (even the world in some cases) and you will find their die hard fans online building fan sites for their favorite NBA franchise. Building and running a fansite for the Kings is fun and quite challenging because there is so much updating to do on the website - it can almost become a part time job if you let it. There are literally hundreds of Sacramento Kings fan sites online, but we found the best one to be at kingshoops.com where you will find news, rumor talk, wallpapers, blogs, and even a forum where you can read and post comments on the Kings or the NBA in general. Check out kingshoops.com and if you get really inspired you should try to run your own fansite for Sacramento.
