Best Kauai Resorts, Accomodations, and Hotels

Where to stay on Kauai? Kauai has a good selection of top hotels and popular resorts, but finding discount lodging and hotels can be a challenge. One popular location is the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa (1571 Poipu Road), considered the top resort in the Poipu area. Some sample rates in Feb. show $390 for a garden view room, $560 for a deluxe ocean view room. Check out the Poipu Bay Golf Course during your stay. They have a spectacular pool area, although it does get crowded during peak seasons. A more affordably priced option is the Kuhio Shores Condos, five minutes from Poipu and right on the beach in Koloa. At about $100-$150 a night, these privately owned units are good, clean accomodations and a great value for lodging in Hawaii. Many units come with barbecue, internet access, beach chairs, et.

Another option is the Poipu Plantation Resort (1792 Pe'e Road, Koloa), a 5 minute walk from Poipu Beach, and about 1 block from the beach. These are condo style units, lots of space, AC, but no fancy pools. But who cares - at $150 a night, you'll save a lot of money over the high priced resorts just down the road. The Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Waipouli Beach is north of the airport (close to Kapa'a) - this 300+ room resort has an oceanfront pool and a nightly luau. A final selection is the Radisson Kauai Beach Hotel and Resort, just 5 minutes north of the airport. Sitting on 25 acres, this oceanfront resort features 345 rooms - a quick check at rooms rate in Feb. came up with $186-$256 a night.

Kauai Lodging: Princeville Resort

The most famous resort on Kauai is the Princeville Resort on the north shore, near Hanalei Bay. Average rooms run around $500 a night, and parking is $15/night. About 30 minutes north of the airport, the Princeville sits on fabulous grounds overlooking the Bay. The rooms here are posh and spacious, with delightful ocean views as it is built on a terraced cliff. Pool area is right next to the beach - the general atmosphere is better for couples than families with small children. There are also a number of rental condo units on the resort property that give you access to similar amenities at a lower price. (a map of the Princeville area is here) You'll find 2 BR / 2BA condos here for around $300 a night, and many of these are oceanfront with great views.
