Fairfield Inn Palm Desert:

There are essentially 4 or 5 smaller towns that are next to Palm Springs that have hotels/motels you can stay at. Palm Springs offers some great accommodations, but I have found that Palm Desert is closer to the golf courses and tennis centers that I use. Nearby towns like Rancho Mirage and Indio also have small hotels and resorts you can stay at if you need a place. When I travel to Palm Desert in March each year for the Pacific Life Open, the Fairfield Inn has all the things I need. A complimentary breakfast, close to restaurants and shopping centers, and a pool/spa. The rates on the hotel are reasonable compared to the nearby resorts of the Hyatt and Marriott properties. Fairfield Inns are mid-range hotels offered by Marriott but certainly give you the basics. With rates starting at $150/night with continental breakfast included, the Fairfield Inn makes sense for the average traveler. The location in Palm Desert allows for easy access from the Palm Springs airport or you are an 1 1/2 hours from Ontario airport. I prefer to fly into Ontario since the rates are about half as much as you pay to fly into Palm Springs airport.

As for the hotel, the rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable and the amenities are 3 to 4 stars in my mind. In terms of the hotels actual location, there address is 72322 Highway 111 Palm Desert, California 92260 USA. The local phone number is 760-341-9100 or you can always call Marriotts reservation 800 # at 1-800-228-2800 for bookings over the phone. The map of Palm Springs (below) is a good indicator of where the various cities are located within the region. Interstate 10 will lead you to the Palm Springs area whether you are arriving from Nevada or the Los Angeles region.

The Fairfield Inn Hotel in Palm Desert is located right off Hwy 111 near the Fred Waring Drive intersection. You are no more than about 6 miles from the I-10 freeway and maybe 15-20 minutes from downtown Palm Springs. The official website for the Fairfield Hotel Palm Desert is located HERE. Online reviews are very positive for this location and I have found the staff to be more than friendly over the years and the overall hospitality very good. My only complaint is that the hotel often fills up fast for peak weekends and events and getting a room is becoming harder each year. Perhaps an expansion is due for this location

The hotel offers 3 floors of rooms (107 rooms and 5 suites) with 1 meeting room. Services include coffee in the lobby, a free continental breakfast each morning, on-site laundry facilities, and free high-speed wireless or wired internet access. Parking is free and there is plenty around the building. The rooms are spacious and king beds or queens are offered in all rooms. There is an outdoor heated pool for your recreation at the hotel and an indoor fitness center on site as well. I found the guest rooms to be plenty big enough for a family of 4 and the bathrooms were updated and clean. The hotel staff seemed pleasant enough and they were extremely helpful in guiding us to some excellent restaurants in the area for dinner. The daily breakfast offers juices, muffins, cereals, fruit, coffee, and some other items. It's always a nice touch by any hotel to give you a free continental breakfast as part of their room rate. I found the eating area to be a big crowded in the mornings, but you can always take your food back to your room, outside by the pool, or into the lobby area where there is a couch and small tables.

Other Marriott Properties in the Region:

If for some reason or another the Fairfield Inn Palm Desert is booked, then consider one of the other Marriott Hotel properties in the region as a place to stay. There is the Courtyard Palm Springs which is close to downtown and they offer shuttle service back and forth to the Palm Springs International Airport. Marriott's Shadow Ridge is a nice resort hotel that features 1 and 2 bedroom villas and championship golf on site. The Desert Springs, A JW Marriott Resort & Spa, Palm Desert is another spectacular property with tennis, golf, and swimming. The Courtyard Palm Desert and Resident Inn Palm Desert are 2 other choices that provide standard rooms and suites for larger families. Lastly, the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells is a fabulous Marriott property with luxury accommodations and amenities. You can find details on all these properties online HERE. Marriott has set up this special page with all the Palm Springs hotels and resorts on 1 page for your convenience.
