Reviews: Best Hong Kong Hotels

Hong Kong is a very busy international business location that offers up 100's of hotels, many in skyrise buildings. Some of the 5-Star hotels in Hong Kong include the Grand Marriott Hong Kong, InterContinental Hong Kong, and The Peninsula Hong Kong. Since the city has water surrounding it, the hotels offer city or water views and Victoria Harbour is a popular spot. If $300/night hotels are too much, then consider the Holiday Inn Hong Kong Golden Mile or The Park Lane hotels as alternative choices. Be a part of Kowloons busy city center or visit Victoria Park. Some hotels offer rooftop bars, interior shopping centers, and incredible suites. The luxury boutiques line many of the streets in Hong Kong and if gambling is your thing you can find casinos around town. For an interactive map of the Hong Kong area go HERE. Just click on a region - Causeway Bay, Central District, North Point, Wan Chai, Mongkok, etc. and get detailed maps of streets with hotels listed. I have personally never seen a website done so well in terms of finding a location that works. You can search hotels by price, location, or by customer ratings. We found several affordable hotels in good areas that go for less than $100 (US) a night. Getting around the city is fairly easy so you don't have to be right next to your business center or main activities to enjoy yourself.

Hong Kong Vacation Tips, Recommendations, and Advice: Suggestions for a better Trip!:

One thing that I hear many people do when in Hong Kong and that is to gamble on the horses. Horse racing is very popular and there are two main racecourses at Happy Valley and Shatin. Shopping is another favorite past time of the locals and although bargaining is something seen in side stalls and small shops, it is not practiced in larger shops. When dining in Hong Kong you will find many restaurants have several course meals and if you are with locals a "toast" is done before each course. Taste each course of food to be polite, but you are not required to drink the whole time. Ask your concierge for advice on restaurants and bars/clubs. I have had several friends that went to Hong Kong only speaking English and they had a great time. Don't expect all the service people you come across to speak English. You'll want to have your hotel business card with you when traveling by taxi so you can show it to the driver and have them get you home safely.

Also check out TripAdvisor. They have major review sections for almost every city and travel destination, covering topics like: hotel recommendations, attractions and dining, airlines and flights, weekend trips, maps, discount hotels, guidebook entries, and discount vacation packages. With many member comments, you again get first-hand information on hotels, bars, clubs, nightlife, sports, shopping, tourist attractions, and much more.
