Reviews: Best Los Angeles Hotels

Picking a hotel in Los Angeles is not easy since there are so many cities within the grand metro area. If you have never been to LA, then get out a map or check out an online version Here. Santa Monica and West Los Angeles are two popular places to stay along with Westwood and Venice. LA is home to some 8 million people so the roadways are crowded and driving around will take some time. Try to find a hotel near where most of your activities will take place. Hollywood is always fun with the Walk of Fame and Sunset Strip but hotels are not that great so perhaps driving into Hollywood is a better bet than staying there. I prefer booking a room in Santa Monica or Westwood so I have quick access to the ocean and other touristy things. Disneyland is down in Anaheim so don't think you are going anyone a favor by getting a hotel in Beverly Hills and then driving south to Disneyland (you'll never live it down with your wife and kids). Room rates vary greatly from our experiences - luxury hotels are going to be $250/night or more and Holiday Inns or Hotel 6's will be around $100/night. The weather is mild year round so there is no off-season so to speak in the LA region. Hotel rates don't change much throughout the year. LAX, Burbank, and Orange County airports will be the 3 options for flying into LA and some hotels will offer a free shuttle service depending on how close they are to the airport. Look for hotels that offer complimentary breakfast with your stay to save on your expenses. The Embassy Suites is a faovrite for business travelers since you get a free breakfast daily and a managers happy hour in the evening.

Los Angeles Vacation Tips, Recommendations, and Advice: Suggestions for a better Trip!:

In terms of what to see when in Los Angeles, we say don't miss the Pacific Ocean and beautiful beaches near Venice. Try to get to Hollywood and see the Walk of Fame or take the Universal Studios tour with your family. The Getty Museum is just off the 405 freeway heading north from Santa Monica. Disneyland is a big draw in southern LA and if that is your destination consider flying into John Wayne Airport for the quickest trip. LA is huge so don't try to do everything in a single visit or else you will find yourself in traffic on the notorious freeway systems of Los Angeles. Try to focus in on a few areas to see as much as possible without having to drive around a lot. I recently did a combined San Diego and Disneyland trip with my family seeing Legoland on the way up from San Diego to Anaheim.
