Decades ago young newlyweds used to venture to Niagara Falls as a honeymoon destination. Today, Niagara Falls is no longer the hot spot for newly married couples, but it still draws in millions of visitors every year with its massive waterfalls on both the US and Canadian borders. Niagara Falls is a small city in the northwest corner of New York state. The town has seen better days and you will notice that by the selection of hotels available in and around Niagara Falls. You won't find too many luxury resorts but there are several moderately priced hotels and motels that should do for a day or 2 while you stay in town. You will find hotels located on both the Canadian side of the border and the United States side. With the Canadian dollar almost equal in value to the US dollar, there is no incentive for Americans to cross the border any longer and get cheap rates. Holiday Inn has several locations on both sides of the falls which should do just fine for the majority of vacationers at about $150/night (Canadian Dollars).

For a more luxurious resort hotel, consider the Seneca Niagara Spa Hotel & Casino, Niagara Falls which is just blocks from Niagara Falls. It is located on Fourth Street in Niagara Falls, NY and provides all the amenities any traveler could want. Rooms are about $175/night for a premier luxury resort and spa. Another great option is the Hampton Inn Niagara Falls located on Rainbow Blvd in the city of Niagara Falls. The hotel is about a half mile from the American Falls and the Rainbow Bridge to Canada. Rates start at $165/night and seem very reasonable given the accommodations. Hampton Inns are under the Hilton hotel parent company and always offer solid amenities and a warm welcome. The rooms have high speed internet access and there is free wireless connection in the lobby area. Other top hotels in the area include the Comfort Inn, Howard Johnson, and Embassy Suites (Canadian side of things).

Niagara Falls Vacation Tips, Recommendations, and Advice: Suggestions for a better Trip!:

Although Niagara Falls may not offer all the top hotel names in the business, you can always stay just a few miles south in the much larger city of Buffalo, NY. If you are more adventurous then consider driving up to Toronto, Canada either before your visit to the falls or after. I felt like the town of Niagara Falls was too touristy for my taste so I decided to find a hotel in the Buffalo area. Although rooms may be a touch cheaper in parts of Niagara Falls, I think you will find a better selection in Buffalo. Beyond seeing Niagara Falls, try to see Lake Erie and some of the small towns that surround this huge great lake. I also, strongly suggest going north into Canada and going to Toronto. There are ferry boats that take you over Lake Ontario and right into the city.
