Orlando is one of the premier family destinations in America with the Disneyworld complex awaiting. Business travelers will also find that Orlando hosts many conventions and the hotel choices are many. The Grand Bohemain Hotel has 250 guest rooms (36 suites) and is quite luxurious. This AAA 4 Diamond hotel was a Westin hotel until recently and now is a sought after place to stay near the downtown area of Orlando. Rooms are about $250/night and the suites are slighly more expensive. Another excellent business traveler hotel is the Embassy Suites Orlando - Downtown on East Pine Street. Embassy Suites always offer suite bedrooms, free breakfast, and a nightly managers reception. The rates are very reasonable with rooms starting at $130 for a 2 room suite with a king bed. The one nice thing about traveling to Orlando for work or pleasure is that hotel rooms are relatively inexpensive compared to other cities of that size.
Now on to the hotels in and around the Disneyworld area in Florida. When families go on a vacation they want convenience and hassle free traveling. Ideally you want to stay as close to Disneyworld as possible to eliminate having to drive to far each day to enter the park. There are several hotels all within a short distance of Disneyworld and the surrounding theme parks. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is a perfect choice is money isn't an object. You can get on the monorail and be at Disneyworld within minutes. No need for a car or the hassle of finding a parking space. The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is adjacent to Disneyworld and offers babysitting services, transportation to local attractions, and 750 guestrooms. Room rates at the Hyatt range from $280/night to over $400 while your stay at the Grand Floridian will cost you over $300/night. For a slighter cheaper rate, consider the Courtyard Orlando Lake Buena Vista in the Marriott Village that is roughly 1 mile from the Walt Disney World Resort. They offer shuttle service that will get you to the theme parks quickly and they even sell tickets so you don't have to stand in line once at the entrance. Rates at the Courtyard are very reasonable at about $120/night to $160/night in the summer months. You can get a hotel room a little farther away, such as at the Homewood Suites Orlando which is roughly 8 miles from Disneyworld, but don't get too far away or else the driving will ruin the trip.
Orlando Vacation Tips, Recommendations, and Advice: Suggestions for a better Trip!:
One thing that we always hear from travelers is "How much time should we spend at each theme park?". We say a good trip to Orlando should last about 4 to 5 days. There is much more to see than just Epcot Center and Disneyworld, although sidetrips to places like the Cape Canaveral Space Center may not be appropriate for really small kids. There's the Disney Animal Kingdom theme park and the Magic Kingdom Park along with countless water parks to relax in the sun while watersliding or tubing. Try to space out your days with hectic schedules, do 1 day at Disneyworld, then have a day at a water park and then back to Epcot on the 3rd day or something similar. Overzealous fathers tend to plan too many activities and don't take into consideration naptime or rest periods that all little kids need.
