Prague has recently become the new city to visit in Europe and everyone I have talked with who has gone say the experience is well worth the money. The city sits right along the Vltava river and the history can be seen all around with castles and ancient architecture. Choosing a hotel can be a bit daunting if you have never been to the city before. Should you stay in Old Town, near the Charles Bridge, New Town, Lesser Quarter, Jewish Quarter, or near Prague Castle. The City Center is the place to be but really anywhere you stay should be fine since the city offers a great public transportation system with buses, trams, trains, and metro. Some of the 5-star hotels in the city include Hotel Savoy, Hotel Palace, Hotel Esplanade, Hotel Pariz, and Hotel Radisson SAS. The Four Seasons Prague is ideally situated right on the Vltava River and has 161 guest rooms (including 20 suites) and rooms will cost you 450 euros or more.
Tourists from America love to see the old Europe and Prague was pretty much untouched by World War II so you can see lots of beautiful buildings not always seen in other European cities. Hotel Savoy gives you old world charm mixed with modern luxury. The hotel is right next to the famous Prague Castle and just steps away from the Lesser Quarter. There are 55 deluxe rooms to choose from and 4 junior suites. Rates are about 365 euros and the rooms are gorgeous, most with views of the city. For the budget minded traveler, the Hotel Julian offers 33 rooms and suites and families find this place a great place to stay. Their "family rooms" can accommodate up to 6 people. The smaller rooms start at about 100 euros a night. The reviews for the K&K Hotel located in the heart of the Old Town of Prague are positive and at 200 Euros a night for the standard double room you can't lose. We have compiled a list of the "best hotels" in Prague down below per surveys done on Expedia and TripAdvisor.com.
Prague Vacation Tips, Recommendations, and Advice: Suggestions for a better Trip!:
Although Prague is the most popular city to visit in Europe, it's right up there with Paris, London, Venice, Rome, etc. The great thing about Prague that attracts many tourists is the fact that the city is so well preserved over the last 1000 years. World War II had severe bombing in many cities that wiped out old standing churches, buildings, etc., but Prague was spared from most of the damage that other large cities experienced. I have often seen Prague as a destination on those 15 day tours that go throughout Europe, but we highly recommend making Prague your only stop (or 1 of maybe 2) so that you can truly see and appreciate the city. There is no need for a rental car as the city is perfect for walking or taking public transit. Hotels vary in price, so find a good map like the one offered at Pragueexperience.com/maps/map.asp and the city from above with all the districts layed out and get an overview of the city.
