Reviews: Best San Francisco Hotels

San Francisco is perhaps one of the most beautiful cities in the world with the Golden Gate bridge, the San Francisco Bay, and the surrounding skyline of the city. Tourists come to the city to see Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and much more. Finding the right location for your hotel can be a task if you are not familiar with the city layout. There are cable cars you can take around much of the city and that way you can avoid walking up or down the steep hills that make the city what it is. The main areas of the city include the Marina district, Pacific Heights, South of Market, the Sunset district, Haight Ashbury area, Fisherman's Wharf, Nob Hill, Russian Hill, and the Embarcadero Center. The waterfront area near Pier 39 can be touch touristy for most, so we recommend staying closer to Lombard Street, Geary, or Broadway. From those centralized locations you can quickly get to Golden Gate Park, Chinatown, or the Golden Gate bridge.

Union Square is another region of the city that is popular for it's shopping, restaurants and bars. Hotel Nikko is a great find in the Union Square area or even the Grand Hyatt San Francisco. The Hyatt is right off of Stockton Street with all the amenities you could ever want. I prefer to be closer to the water and Fisherman's Wharf where I can get on a ferry to see Alcatraz or jump on a cable car to ride the famous streets of SF. No trip would be complete unless you ventured into Chinatown and tasted fresh Chinese food. San Francisco may seem like a large city, but to get around it is quite easy whether in a rental car (not recommended since parking can be a pain) or taxi or cable car. Down below we have tried to list some of the more popular hotels in San Francisco per reviews and feedback from users on sites like Tripadvisor.com. There are links to the official websites of the hotels listed below. A room in San Francisco will cost you around $200/night with some of the nicer hotels charging more than $300/night. If you have a rental car and plan on driving to most of your destinations, then consider staying on the outskirts of the city to save on hotel rates (more like $100 to $150 a night).

San Francisco Vacation Tips, Recommendations, and Advice: Suggestions for a better Trip!:

San Francisco is a city loaded with things to do and unless you have a week to see all the sites, you will need to pick your favorite things to be able to fit in all the activities offered. Onlyinsanfrancisco.com and SFgate.com are 2 great websites to start your search at. They have detailed articles on hotels, restuarants, concerts, museums, excursions, and more. If you like seafood, get down to the Fisherman's Wharf area for some fresh crab and clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Citysearch.com has user recommendations for restaurants which should help you pick from the 100's available. We suggest taking at least 3 days to enjoy the city and perhaps an extra day to venture north to the Napa Valley wine country and taste California wines. The weather is hit and miss in the city and you may have 70 degree temps in late November or low 50's in the summer with fog engulfing the entire city. Pack for all seasons but don't let the weather stop you from doing what you want.
