Cheaptickets.com offers some great discount tickets, but most everything is last minute. Orbitz, Expedia and Travelocity can get you airline tickets that are at a discount if you book a vacation package. One of the best ways to get discounted airline tickets to go to the airline site of your choice (Southwest, American, United, Continental, Northwest, Delta, Alaska, etc) and sign up for their email notifications of cheap fares. They send out emails each week with fares that have been discounted or are available at discounted rates. It's not easy to plan for it, but often flying last minute these days can save you a lot.

They give you points, not miles, but still it equates to the same free flights after a certain amount of points.

Their flights leave from all major airports in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Denver, Dallas and more. Hawaiian Airlines has partnered with other airlines on a codeshare basis and has several flights each day to the islands leaving from major cities as well.
