Reviews: Best Denver Hotels

Denver is nicknamed the "Mile High City" since it is located at about 1 mile in elevation. Denver sits just east of the Rocky Mountains and is an exciting and ever changing metropolitan area. Finding a hotel in Denver is not that difficult with many leading brands to choose from along with small, boutique hotels that have found a niche in the city. Whether you want a hotel near the convention center in Denver or near one of the sports facilities - Coors Field, Pepsi Center, or Broncos Stadium, there are plenty of budget to luxury hotels in the region. Perhaps you are looking for a hotel near the Denver airport like the Embassy Suites or Fairfield Inn. On a recent search we did on Expedia.com for downtown hotels in Denver, we found reasonable rates on the Magnolia Hotel Denver ($217/midweek), the The Burnsley All Suite Hotel ($185), and Hotel Monaco Denver ($270). .

Business travelers prefer the Residence Inn Denver City Center with nightly rooms around $240 and a 5 Star hotel in Denver is the Brown Palace Hotel with an average price of $250/night. Another excellent find is the Hotel Teatro, a 4 Star Denver hotel that rates very well on TripAdvisor amongst honeymooners and seniors. If you prefer a suite hotel in Denver, consider the Hampton Inn & Suites which is on Speer Boulevard, a great location in the downtown region. The Burnsley Hotel Denver is another all suite hotel that is located at 1000 Grand Street and a little further from the main downtown region than most people prefer. The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Denver comes highly recommended on TripAdvisor and many other hotel websites, but we think that for over $300/night you are over paying. The Ritz Carlton is located on Curtis St near 19th. If you are willing to be more on the outskirts of the downtown, consider the Renaissance Denver Hotel, a Marriott property, which is great for events and meetings. All the downtown accommodations and lodging options are within walking distance to most of the top sites like the Denver Performing Arts Center, Denver Pavilions, Colorado State Capitol, Civic Center Park, Denver Art Museum, etc. Another popular area to stay in is the Denver Tech Center (DTC) which is about 20 minutes to the southeast of Downtown Denver. There are corporations, shopping, and plenty of restaurants in this region. Hotels like the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Tech Center, Hyatt Regency Tech Center - Denver and the Comfortsuites Denver Tech Center are all considered good places to stay in the Englewood, Cherry Hills Village, and Castlewood areas. The airport is only about 15 miles from downtown so no matter where you stay it's about the same distance. Denver International Airport is northeast of the city and a quick taxi ride away. Most hotels offer some kind of airport transportation or shuttle bus service, but be sure check before you reserve a room online or over the phone. Although not as popular with travelers, other well recognized accommodations include the Radisson Hotel Denver, Warwick Hotel Denver, and the Loews Hotel Denver. If you are traveling to Denver in the winter expect some delays at the airport and on the roads as winter storms are common. Summer temperatures are generally very nice which means outdoor activities are plentiful, especially with the Rocky Mountains so nearby. Skiing is probably the biggest draw in the winter for tourism as people from all over the country fly into Denver and then drive into the mountains for a ski vacation. I have visited a few times in the fall to visit my friend in Parker and to watch the Denver Broncos play football. I try to find hotels with cheap overnight parking fees if I have car and those that offer a free breakfast with your stay. Wifi is pretty much available at all hotels these days so that shouldn't be a concern. Definitely read reviews posted on TripAdvisor.com, at Hotelchatter.com, and the ones HERE.

Luxury Hotels Denver:

We read many reviews posted online by actual travelers and the Hotel Monaco Denver came up as both a top spot to stay for business or pleasure. The hotel is located at 1717 Champa Street at 17th and is really considered a boutique hotel with rates around $270/night. This stylish luxury hotel offers large rooms with high ceilings. They are pet friendly so if you are traveling with your dog give them a call. The restaurant, called Panzano, is a nice spot to eat after a long day of work or sightseeing. Some people say room rates are better if you book through Expedia or Hotels.com. Their website is located online HERE. Another favorite spot for many travelers is the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa ($280/night) which is located right in the city center and offers up older, yet classy accommodations. The guest rooms and suites are nicely furnished and they too are pet friendly. The Brown Palace Hotel is online at Brownpalace.com. The Hotel Teatro, has rooms that are about $225/night, and this luxury boutique hotel is literally across the street from the Denver Center for Performing Arts. The historic hotel offers some weekend packages and romantic getaways - 110 guest rooms with views of downtown. You will find the hotel online at Hotelteatro.com.

Denver Tech Center Hotels:

Outside of the main city center of Denver sits the Tech Center which is loaded with newer corporate business parks, restaurants and shopping. Not all business takes place in downtown, so being close to Cherry Hills Village and Englewood is a plus if that is where your business meeting takes you. Top hotels in this zone include the Embassy Suites Denver Tech Center Hotel which is in the southeast region of the city and near Greenwood Village when looking on a map. Embassy Suites hotels have larger rooms, reasonable rates, and they give you free breakfast and a nice managers reception in the evening so you can unwind. I regularly stay at Embassy Suites hotels as the extras they offer are unsurpassed by most hotel chains. Another good place to stay at is the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Tech Center which is on E. Union Ave near Cherry Hills Village. Reviews are generally positive for this hotel in the North Denver Tech Center close to I-25. You can find them online HERE.

Hotels Downtown Denver:

Do you want to be in the heart of downtown Denver? There are lots of hotels to choose from, but not all meet travelers demands when you look at the reviews and comments posted on travel websites. The Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center ($220/night) gets rave reviews for its location and service. This 4 Diamond hotel offers luxury accommodations and first class service from a staff that treats you on a personal level. There are 1100 guest rooms in this massive hotel and as the name suggests it's adjacent to the convention center. The Hyatt Hotel Denver sits at 650 15th Street and is a top rated hotel in downtown Denver. Another less pretentious hotel is the Warwick Denver Hotel ($210) which some say is outdated compared to other choices, but we read enough reviews that mention a "good value" and a "comfortable stay" that we put it on our list of places to stay when visiting downtown Denver. It's a little further on the east side of Broadway that we typically like, but it's still withing walking distance to the capitol building. You can find the Warwick Hotel Denver online HERE. The Residence Inn Denver City Center can't be left of the list since it's #1 rated on TripAdvisor.com and is in a great location. It's located next to the Monaco Hotel on Champa Street and is a 14 floor facility with 229 suites and 4 meeting rooms. The Residence Inn is a Marriott property and has some great weekend rates available.

Cheap Hotels Denver:

Trying to find a cheap hotel in any city is never easy and Denver is on exception. The Democratic National Convention just went through town a month ago and now Denver is on the map for tourism. A search on Expedia brings up places like The Curtis, a hotel that has room rates for $150/night but reviews are less than favorable on this small hotel. The Sheraton Denver is another hotel with discounted rates ($160/night) but once again travelers have said the hotel is less than average. The Comfort Inn Downtown is reasonable at $115/night in the downtown region, but many travelers say the Hampton Inn & Suites on Speer Blvd is a great option and an "excellent value". We found rates as low as $115/night for the Hampton Inn & Suites and reviews were better than the Comfort Inn overall.

Denver Airport Hotels:

Business travelers often want to stay near an airport when they have an early morning flight, that way they are already close to the airport and don't have to rush so much the morning of their flight. When flying into or out of Denver International Airport (DIA) you have lots of options for hotels. Two of the more likely choices are the Embassy Suites Hotel Denver International Airport or the Fairfield Inn Denver Airport. Rates at the Embassy Suites are closer to $200/night while the Fairfield Inn start at $149/night. The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites is near the Fairfield Inn on Tower Road and their rates are very similar at about $160/night. The Hyatt Place Denver Airport is definitely nice and at less than $200/night is worth considering if there is availability. As for the La Quinta Inn and Suites Denver International Airport room rates start at $115/night and for a quick overnight stay is a good decision. They offer a 24 hour shuttle service to and from the airport which will help you get there on time. See a complete list of hotels near the Denver airport HERE.
