For years I avoided Enterprise rental car services thinking they were only for local rentals and that their rates at airports weren't competitive. I fly on a fairly frequent basis from Portland (PDX) down to San Jose, CA (SJC) and rent cars anywhere from 2 days to a week. Sometimes I go on business travel and other times we visit my wifes' family with our children. I usually rent with Avis out of San Jose airport but the last few times I decided to try Enterprise since their rates were very competitive. The day we flew in it was like 85 degrees and there waiting by the car was a customer service rep with some bottles of water for the family which was the extra touch you are always looking for in any company. I have given them my business since in San Jose, although in other cities their rates are just not as competitive at major airports. Enterprise is still recognized as the "local car company" that rents vehicles in your neighborhood at off-airport locations. They carry a full line-up of cars including economy sizes, compact, intermediate, standard, full-size, premium, luxury, minivans, sports utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and cargo vans. Not all car types are available at each location so be sure to call ahead to check on it.
Renting From Enterprise:
The easiest way to get a rental from Enterprise is to go on their website at Enterprise.com and check out their rates. They currently have a 50% off weekend rate for Friday-Monday rentals which is hard to beat. The rates we were quoted ranged from about $20 to $60/day depending on car size and location. Their vehicles include Chevy Aveo, Nissan Kersa, Pontiac G6, Nissan Maxima, Cadillas CTS, Chevy Blazers, and Tahoes. Enterprise doesn't sport a frequent rental club like the other big car rentals companies so I suppose they lose some of the business travelers who want those perks. As for customer service, I truly believe they are the best in the industry. It all started with their "We'll Pick You Up" commercials which make it look so easy to get a rental car. I have had excellent experiences with them at several airport and off-site locations over the last 2 years and would recommend them for anyone looking to rent a car. You can compare their rates to companies like Hertz, Avis, or National on sites like Expedia, Orbitz, or Travelocity.
Discounts and Coupon Codes:
Nobody wants to pay full price when renting a car and you shouldn't have to if you do a little research beforehand. Enterprise doesn't offer as many discounts as other car rental companies, but you still can save money. I just recently switched my insurance over to All-State and received a bunch of coupons from them for Enterprise Rent-a-Car. There was a 10% off, one free weekend day (3-day rental required), and a few others. You can find other offers online at http://www.mousesavers.com/enterprise.html. We did a search for "Enterprise Coupons" on Google and came up with several search results for sites that list coupon codes and discount rates for cars rented through Enterprise.
Enterprise Will Pick You Up:
Enterprise is unique in that they focus their attention towards people that need local rentals. They will actually come right to your house and pick you up. This comes in handy if you need a rental car if your regular car was in an accident or is in the shop for few days. Perhaps even if you wanted to rent a car for the weekend and put miles on the rental instead of your regular car, then their service is convenient. As they have branched out into certain airport locations their rates have been very affordable in order to get customer loyalty.
