What to see on an Orlando Vacation - Disneyworld - Epcot Center - Disney MGM Studios - Pleasure Island:

I grew up going to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA and never even knew about Disneyworld until I was older. After making a trip to Orlando to the Disneyworld complex, I now realize how much better it is for a vacation. Disneyland may have added California Adventure park, but it's still in a gross part of Anaheim and there is nothing else to do around there. My family enjoyed Disneyworld much better with an enclosed feeling and lots to do outside of the park as well. Definitely set aside 4 days in Orlando so you can get to Disneyworld, Epcot Center, Sea World, Pleasure Island and other side trips mentioned below. Even if you live on the west coast, make it a point to fly back east once with your family to Disneyworld. It's well worth it.

Disneyworld has all the fun rides like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, It's A Small World, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion and much more. Epcot offers a more cultural experience with food and shops dedicated to various countries around the world. There are a limited amount of rides, but the whole day can be an educational experience for the whole family. Tickets prices are expensive starting at $63/day per person 10 and up. Kids are no bargain at $52/each. You can find package deals that at least bring down the prices on hotels, tickets, etc. Another popular attraction is the Disney MGM Studios tour. Visit the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Fantasmic!, Playhouse Disney - Live on Stage, and more. No matter what activities your family chooses to do, you will be busy each day so be sure to set aside some down time for naps and resting so that the kids can stay out late at night and what the shows. Pleasure Island is a nice way to unwind for the adults in the evening. It's an island of entertainment with 7 clubs/bars to see.

Kennedy Space Center - Busch Gardens - Blizzard Beach - Typhoon Lagoon:

If time permits, side trips around the Orlando/Kissimmee region abound. The water parks are very popular when the sun is out. Blizzard Beach offers bobsled and toboggan runs down waterslides. There is fun for all ages. The older kids and adults can try the Summet Plummet, a 120 foot water slide that's almost straight down. Typhoon Lagoon is a large articifially created lagoon with waterslide, twisting tides, roaring rapids and relaxing rivers. crush 'n' Gusher is the favorite attraction here. Kennedy Space Center is just 45 minutes from Orlando and offers a nice break from all the hustle and bustle of Disneyworld. "Meet an Astronaut, see giant rockets, train in spaceflight simulators, and even view a launch." Busch Gardens is down in Tampa and requires a bit of a drive from Orlando and is not recommended for the little youngsters as there are more roller coasters and attractions for teenagers and adults.

Where to Stay on your Orlando Vacation:

Looking for an Orlando vacation rental in the Disney area? Want to find an Orlando Vacation Villa? We suggest trying the website at Vrbo.com. It supplies 100's of homes, villas, and condos in the Orlando/Kissimmee area all for rent by owner. Cut out the middle man and save money. I have found many Orlando vacation homes on the site and use them often. If you are more of a resort person and don't want to have to drive into the parks each day, then we suggest the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa within the Disneyworld area. Get on the monorail or bus and go right to the theme parks, water parks and Downtown Disney right from the resort. It is expensive, but it eliminates driving and parking. Very convenient for families that need to come back to their hotel rooms for naps and a change of clothes for evening. You can find more information on the Grand Floridian and other resorts at Disneyworld.Disney.Go.com.

Discounted/Cheap Orlando Vacation Packages:

The internet makes it so easy to find the best vacation packages with instant results. The best discounted Orlando vacation packages we found were at OrlandoVacations4less.com, Trip2OrlandoUSA.com, and OrlandoVacation.com. All sites have discount packages on airfare, hotels, park tickets, and deals on other excursions. For a family of 4 from the west coast, assume you are going to spend at least $2000 for a 4 night trip.
