Rancho Las Palmas Condo Rental in Country Club:

Are you planning a trip to the Palm Desert region? If so, then you should definitely consider staying at the Rancho Las Palmas Country Club. There are dozens of properties listed on VRBO.com - either 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom units. There is also the Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa which is attached to one section of the country club and they offer luxury hotel amenities. There is no better location in the entire region as far as I'm concerned. You are walking distance to The River - a huge mall with restaurants, movie theater, and stores. The Palm Springs International airport is about 20 minutes away and the Indian Wells Tennis Garden is 20 minutes down Hwy 111. I have stayed in other rentals and hotels over the years, but our stay in 2012 at Rancho Las Palmas CC was the best yet.

Each year we go to the desert to watch tennis during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of March at the BNP Paribas Open. All the top tennis players on both the mens and womens sides show up to play the event and the atmosphere is spectacular. Hotels and condos tend to book up during these weeks, so book early. This year we took my parents and my brother and his family so we knew a hotel just wouldn't be that great - instead we opted for a condo. After searching vacation rentals for hours I came across a place in Rancho Las Palmas country club that had recently been totally renovated and chose that one. It was a 3 bedroom (2100 square foot) condo with 3 full baths and a den and an additional half bath. The place was completely updated a year ago and looks amazing. You can find it on VRBO (it's on Marbella Drive). The back patio faces the golf course and one of the many small lakes/ponds is within about 50 yards. The single level condo is perfect, even during the warmer months of summer. The country club offers three 9 hole courses and 25 tennis courts along with two dozen community swimming pools. Other country clubs have similar amenities, but Rancho Las Palmas is an excellent facility. There is a gated entrance with 24 hour security, HOA rules to keep noise levels and after hour activities to a minimum, and beautifully kept grounds. I like the central location best as it was easy to go places. We took evening walks over to The River and ate dinner at the Yard House, PF Changs, and the Cheesecake Factory. Hotels are a great solution if it is just you and your spouse, but if you are traveling with multiple couples or with your kids, then renting a condo or townhouse is the way to go. It's so much more relaxing at the end of the day to hang out in a large family room than be stuffed in a hotel room. The main website for Rancho Las Palmas is at http://www.rlpcc.com.

Condo Rentals at RLP Country Club:

When you set out to rent a condo, using a website like VRBO is the best place to start. You get dozens of options to choose from. We found 2 bedroom 2 bath units for about $200/night and 3 bedroom condos that went for $300+/night. We ended up paying $350/night for our accommodations, a bit expensive, but remember our rental unit had been renovated recently with brand new everything. It looked brand new when we arrived and the kids and my parents thought it was gorgeous. All condo rentals at RLP Country Club get access to the community pools - which we used everyday - and you can also use the bigger pool over at the tennis center. The majority of the rental condos back up to the golf courses and most are within a short walk to a pool. The pool was heated and the hot tub was nice for relaxing at night. The kids even had a chance to play out on the golf course after hours when the golfers were done for the day. It was a family atmosphere which is what we wanted most. Another good source for rentals is using Craigslist - there are lots of last minutes specials that owners put up. You can often negotiate the rates if you are willing to wait until the last minute.

Rancho Las Palmas Activities - Things to Do:

Lots of people vacation to Palm Springs to relax and enjoy the outdoor weather. I love the fact the sun is out almost all year and the temperatures are nearly perfect for 9 months of the year. The tennis center at Rancho Las Palmas is huge and incredible well done. They play a huge junior tournament each year in April, but otherwise you can get access to the courts if you call ahead. We used the courts two days while we were there and the staff was helpful and got us on courts away from everyone else since we had the kids. It's about $25/hour to rent the tennis courts. What about golf? Rates range from $70 to $115 depending on time of day and season. Call ahead and check out availability before you arrive. We found that tee times were available the day off on most days in March. The Super Twilight rate is the best deal once you get to daylight savings time in mid-March. Swimming - the pools are well located - seems like one is on almost every street. They offer a good sized pool, large hot tub, table and umbrella and lounge chairs. No lifeguards are available, so be prepared to watch the little ones. Walking - the street are all flat with walking paths throughout the country club.
