It offers quick flights, sandy beaches, and plenty of sunshine with reasonably priced hotels and restaurants. The #1 destination in Mexico is Cancun. Spring breakers have been going there for years and it's only a 2 hour flight from Dallas. The weather is spectacular and the beaches are pristine in the Cancun area. If you want a more private setting, just take a boat over to Cozumel. Cabo San Lucas has recently become a huge vacation spot on the west coast of Mexico. It too is an easy flight from LAX and the hotels and golf courses in the Cabo area are top rated.

You can first start with the big online travel sites at Expedia, Travelocity, or Orbitz. Smaller, yet more detailed sites on traveling to Mexico can be found at Itmco.com, Off2mexico.com, or Travelguidemexico.com. They all offer recommendations on hotels, flights, and excursions. Yahoo travel provides a detailed site on hotels, restaurants, cheap flights, rental car information, and vacation package deals.Cancun, Cozumel, Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas:Traveling to Mexico gives you plenty of options where you want to stay. Cabo San Lucas is located on the Pacific Ocean side with plush resorts, great hotels and accommodations, and plenty of sunshine year round. Cancun and Cozumel, on the other hand, border the Caribbean and have better beaches and some great weather (September and October are hurricane season so beware). Cozumel is a lot more private than the Hotel Zone in Cancun which can be quite touristy. If you want to see the famous cliff divers, then travel to Acapulco and enjoy. No matter what your destination in Mexico, there is plenty to do, see, and eat.
Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Tulum and other excursions:This is a must do if you are close (Cancun and Cozumel are within hours). Chichen Itza is close to 2500 years old and is the old civilization of the Mayas. The pyramids and temples are incredible to view and you are bound to walk away with an appreciation of how skilled and knowledgeable the Mayans were over 2500 years ago. Tulum is close to Cancun (just south) and is recommended as a nice day trip.
Cheap or discounted airfare to Mexico?:Airfare to Mexico has always been fairly cheap and there are still countless deals on vacations which include airfare. American Airlines offers some great airfare deals. Air Mexico or Mexicana Air fly direct to Cancun, Cabo and have some great seasonal discounts. The site Cheaptickets.com is another good choice if you are looking for last minute airline deals to Mexico.
