News, Reviews and Accessories of the Motorola Q:Flush off the success of the Motorola RAZR, Motorola gets ready to battle head to head with the popular RIM Blackberry. The new Motorola Q launches the end of May 2006, and take Motorola into the realm of smart phones - the combination of cell phone, email device, web browser, and PIM. The Motorola Q has a built in mini-QWERTY keyboard and runs the Microsoft mobile software platform. RIM has captured most of the corporate email space, and Motorola wants to claim a piece of that real estate -- in fact this one has been given the nickname "RAZRBerry" as people have speculated about its capabilities..
Motorola Q Pictures Mobile PhoneMotorola bills the Q as the world thinnest QWERTY (keyboard) cellphone, at just 11.5mm. The Windows Mobile Software sets the Q apart from the RIM Blackberry which uses its own operating system and interface. From the Motorola website: "Q leverages Microsoft’s familiar and trusted Windows Mobile software and is among the first devices to run on the new Windows Mobile 5.0 platform which delivers scalable and cost-effective mobile messaging support with Exchange 2003 out of the box. This enables the device to work overtime to leverage existing corporate investments in infrastructure, training and support while continuing to protect office networks, data and applications." Like the Blackberry, the Q has a thumbwheel for one-hand control and navigation, a 1.3MP camera, a web browser, and MP3 audio capabilities. It also functions as a speakerphone for hands-free use.
