Reviews of new Samsung Phones for 2007: A900 - D600 - T809 - D500:
We really like the latest lineup of cellular phones from Samsung. The A900 is offered through Sprint Wireless and is sleek, sophisticated, and has tons of the latest technology advancements for cell phones. They cost about $120 (with a service plan) and offer a super-thin black shell with Bluetooth wireless techology, an on-demand TV screen, and music downloads. Also includes a 1.3 megapixel camera that captures high resolution digital pictures to send to an email account or compatible phone. Our next favorite Samsung cell phone is the Samsung D600 with a 2 megapixel camera, 240 X 320 pixel display, polyphonic and mp3 ringtones, dual speakers, handles MSM, EMS, MMS, and email. The D600 sells for about $300 without a plan. The Samsung T809 ($200 through T-Mobile) comes with a nice digital camera, a slim design, digital zoom, mp3 player and stereo speakers, and video media player (MP4, 3GP) on the 262K resolution screen.
The Samsung D500 has features like Bluetooth support, mp3 player, memory capacity, 262K colors display, and a sleek design. It does has some stability issues and email attachments must be less than 200KB of data. Otherwise a great phone for about $250 (without a plan). The Samsung A920 is nicknamed the "Music Master" with capabilities to play music, stream video, and talk wirelessly through Bluetooth. Comes with a 1.3 MP camera and flash. Cost is about $300. As with all these Samsung cell phones, we highly recommend buying them only through a wireless plan with Cingular, T-Mobile, Sprint or Verizon so that you save money on the price of the phone. Technology isn't changing that fast with cell phones, so you should be able to hang onto your phone for at least a year or 2 before needing a new one. Read reviews on CNET or MobileWhack.com to find out what users think of these phones. We found that generally all phones performed the same with some offering features you are not likely to use anyways. With Ipods and other portable mp3 players being so prevalent, it's not that important to get a cell phone that plays great music files.
Buy Samsung Phones:
There are lots of cell phone resellers who would love to sell you a new phone. The premiums on the latest Samsung cell phones are very high ($300+) when you buy from a non-plan cell phone store like Wirefly.com, LetsTalk.com, or Circuity.com. When you buy a new cell phone and get a 2-year service agreement with a wireless carrier like Cingular, Verizon, Nextel, or T-Mobile at the same time, the savings are huge since the carriers eat most of the costs for the phone hoping to make it back with the 2 year commitment. Razor phones are so popular people are scooping them up at $100/each, but if you switch to Cingular as a new customer, they give you one for free, not bad savings.
Samsung has about 50 phones to choose from, but many are outdated or don't offer the latest features that young users want. We researched the most popular phones amongst teenagers and found the following Samsung cell phones being the top sellers - Samsung D820, Samsung X497, Samsung E530, Samsung T509, Samsung Samsung X495, Samsung T309, Samsung X660, Samsung I730, and the E730. Almost all offer camera phones, mp3 players, nice displays, speakerphone, bluetooth wireless capabilities and more. Pick a phone based on a "special offer" from your carrier so you can hopefully get it for free.
How do I get Samsung Ringtones to my phone?
Getting ringtones delivered right to your Samsung cellular phone is easy these days. Just go to the main Samsung.com website and click on the Tones and Graphics section or you can also join a ringtone specific website like DadaMobile.com, Jamster.com, Katazo.com or UnlimitedRingTones.com. Usually ringtones and graphics cost about $1-$2/each and you can save money by subscribing to a monthly package that lets you get more ringtones for a cheaper cost per ringtone. There are also new Answer Tones available on the Samsung site. New software is also coming online where you can create your own ringtones from your own music. Give it a try at EasyRingtoneMaker.com.
