Tracfone Prepaid Wireless:

Prepaid wireless cell phones are becoming quite popular as an alternative to all those lengthy contracts and monthly bills that are out of control. One of the leading prepaid wireless phone companies is Tracfone. Tracfone wireless is no small chicken, they have over 10 million subscribers which tells you there is a huge market in this category. Many customers love the way Tracfone offers no contracts and no monthly bill to pay. You buy minutes as you go which makes it easy and convenient. They carry all the latest phones from Motorola, Nokia, LG, and Kyocera. The Tracfone phones are carried at nearly 70,000 stores nationwide and you can buy their airtime cards as well. Look for them in stores like Walmart, Target, Radio Shack, Office Depot, Staples, Amazon, 7-11 and more. If you are looking to buy a Tracfone, keep in mind that there are no credit checks, no activation fees, and no out of pocket fees to cancel. Minute plans start as low as $9.99/month.

Many people say where is the catch to these low cell phone rates? It could be in the nationwide coverage that they offer in some situations, but all calls cost the same whether they are local, long distance, or roaming. When you buy the Tracfone cell phones, they also come with free minutes which is a huge bonus. If you need to buy minutes you can go on the Tracfone.com website and order them directly to your phone on your phone. Tracfone offers more promotions and coupon codes than any other wireless company we have come across. We will go into all those details down below to try and save you money and get the most minutes next time you buy more. Tracfone also offers the ability to call over 60 international destinations at no extra fee. We found www.Tracfone.com to be loaded with information all their packages and minutes programs. Definitely go to the site to see which deals are best for you and your monthly calling habits. Tracfone activation of their phones is easy on the website - type in your personal information, pick if you have a new number with Tracfone or if you are activating a number you are bringing to Tracfone from another wireless carrier, and then pick your phone and enter the serial number which is on the activation card in the packaging. Tracfone reviews are mixed with online comments posted by customers at sites like Prepaidreviews.com/tracfone.html. Many consumers note that the service is great when it's actually working while others mention everything from activation issues, roaming problems, and general service in areas where other cell phones have no problems. Phonedog.com is another site dedicated to tracking the performance of carriers like Tracfone and their reviews (by customers) show less than adequate customer service is provided by Tracfone and and "overall value" is average. If you have to make the choice on local wireless carriers that don't have contracts, compare Tracfone to companies like MetroPCS or Cricket Wireless. You can even get prepaid cell phones from major carriers like the AT&T Go Phone, Alltel U Prepaid, Boost Mobile, T-Mobile Prepaid, and Verizon INpulse.

Tracfone Phones:

Another common concern with people looking into the prepaid cell phone business is that they want to know which mobile phones are available. Tracfone works with major cell phone manufacturers to make sure you have the latest phones. Get the Motorola W175, Motoroal C139, Motorola W260g, Motorola C261, Motorola W370, Motorola V170, LG 225, LG600G, Motorola W376g, Motorola W370R, Kyocera K126C, and others are being added all the time. Many of the phones come preloaded with ringtones (Free) which is what owners want. Almost all the phones are capable of downloading ringtones, wallpapers, and screensavers to have on your cell phone. One cool thing about the phones is that they let you know exactly how many minutes you have left before you need to buy more and "recharge" your phone. It's a nice feature when you are only allowed to use a certain amount of minutes each month unless you buy more. Minute refills, as they are often called, are available in 4 deals - 60 minute card for $19.99, 120 minutes for $29.99, 200 minutes for $39.99 and 450 minutes for $79.99. They have double minutes cards which are a good deal if you plan on keeping the Tracfone service for a while. Text and picture messaging is allowed on the phones, but you will be hit with a per unit charge for each message sent (received messages are free). The one downside is that Tracfone doesn't offer web access with their phones. Roaming charges don't exist if you use one of their GSM phones, otherwise you will see some fees with the non-GSM phones. Tracfone does offer voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, and 3 way calling. If you want to see the Tracfone coverage map, go online HERE.

Tracfone Ringtones:

As with any cell phone carrier, Tracfone gets lots of requests for ringtones, especially those that are FREE. They have come through with many of their cell phones (like the Motorola C139) coming pre loaded with up to 20 ringtones. You can buy them on their website HERE. When we were doing this article, all of a sudden the website was "temporarily unavailable" which made us realize what those consumers had complained about with their "service" problems. The ringtones we found on the website started at about $1.49/each but many of their airtime minute cards and prepaid deals offer up free ringtones as a way to keep customers coming back for more minutes with an incentive. There are software programs available that let you create your own ringtones from your personal music collection which essentially makes all ringtones free on your Tracfone prepaid phone if you do it right.
