Everyone who downloads .ZIP files from the Internet knows they need some kind of "unzip" program to open them up and use them. 123 ZIP! is a zip/unzip utility. It allows you to open and extract the contents of any .ZIP file you will ever download. And it lets you zip up files as well, in case you need to attach pictures to an e-mail message or just save space by storing some of your seldom-used files in a compressed format . How do you use it? First of all, 123 ZIP! comes as an .EXE (executable) file. Just download the file and run it to install 123 ZIP! on your computer. That's the first step. From then on, any time you double-click a .ZIP file on your computer, it will open up in a window like the one above, showing you all the contents inside the .ZIP file. You can then double-click any file to view it or run it, or click the UNZIP button to unzip and install the program. The program comes with detailed help screens that walk you through the entire process -- anyone can do it, even a beginner.

It ZIPS too! 123 ZIP! is as good at zipping as it is at unzipping. The picture above shows the interface for adding files or creating a new .ZIP file. Just select the files on your hard drive that you want to add, then click the ADD NOW button. You can also zip up entire directories and subdirectories -- this makes it easy to make archive copies of your key folders, or just to bundle up that folder of birthday pictures to e-mail to your mother.

This screen shot shows you how easy it is to unzip a file. By default, it will be unzipped to your chosen unzip location (in this case C:\TEMP), and a new directory will be created to store the unzipped files (C:\TEMP\3DHCLOCK) -- this makes it very easy to keep track of where the files are going. Just go to your unzip folder and you will find them waiting there each time. Of course, you can also choose the USER DIRECTORY and unzip files to any location you choose. To make life even simpler, after unzipping, you can click the OPEN EXPLORER WINDOW button (on the top-right side of the main screen shot at the top of this page) -- that will instantly open an Explorer window showing you the files you just unzipped, ready for you to install them.
